                 Butterfly Flutters

Butterfly flutters,
Mad as a hornet,
Bargaining beetles,
Praying Mantis,
Desert locust, Greta Garbo, I want to be alone,
Silence is the truth.

        Butterfly Flutters (Variation # 1)

Butterfly flutters, death has not come for me,
Mad as a hornet, as death decides to stay,
Ambrosia beetles, please death, not yet,
Praying Mantis, now I understand,
Desert locust, Greta Garbo, I want to be alone,
Silence reposes truth.

 The So-called Phone Call

After a date on a Saturday night,
When he said, “I really enjoyed being with you.”
She heard, “I really enjoyed being with you.”
When she said, “I really had fun, too,”
She meant, “I want to do this again!”
When he answered, “Good, I’ll call you tomorrow,”
He meant, “If it crosses my mind maybe I’ll call you by Thursday.”
When she said, “That’ll be nice,”
She meant, “I’ll be waiting by the phone until you call and every time the phone rings I won’t pick up until the fourth ring so you don’t think all I’ve been doing is waiting by the phone and when you don’t call, I’ll cry, no, I’ll sob and think I’m ugly and undesirable and I will have given you more power than you’ve ever deserved just like so many other young girls have done with so many guys like you.”

Departed

Your soul's ascent to the heavens
Smokey sunset,
Swirls of pink, purple, orange, and blue
Blue, missing you blue
Indigo blue,
Dark, sad, blue.
